He was doing this as a favor to Oliver Queen. He'd thought it would be no big deal, just keep an eye on a pretty young woman for a few days... He should have known better. He should have realized, when Oliver asked him to do this, that there were bound to be complications.
"Master Wayne, I hate to interrupt but... It seems Miss Sullivan is in a bit of trouble again," Alfred's voice came, and Bruce heaved out a sigh as he stood.
Chloe Sullivan didn't need one masked vigilante looking after her. She needed a team of them.

Victor asked, and Chloe smirked slightly, glancing over at the annoyingly self-involved brunette that seemed to think being involved with a half-alien that was the displaced king of a planet none of them had ever heard of meant she was some kind of a leader or something.
"Sorry, Victor, but no."
"Can I start an 'I hate Liz Parker' club?"
"Victor..."
"You can be vice president. Oliver already claimed treasurer. AC can be secretary."
Chloe smiled. "Fine. But no Most Wanted List. Maybe an arrest warrant."
"Already did that one."

Bruce watched in silence as they held each other... Oliver's arms wrapped tightly around the small blonde, Chloe practically burrowed into his embrace. It'd been close, the fight'd been hard, but they'd all made it through. And now Oliver and Chloe were clinging to each other, and Kara and AC were leaning against one another, tired but happy. Happy to be alive, together. And Bruce was alone. Always alone. And as he stood watching them, two couples that were everything to each other, he could only hope that, someday, he would find someone, that he would have what they had.

A Slayer. Or, at least, that's what the British guy in the glasses - Giles, apparently - said she was. She was a Slayer, a girl with the power and abilities to hunt the forces of darkness, and... Well, to be honest, Chloe had sort of stopped listening to his spiel when it seemed he'd just been planning to ramble on and on. But the point was, she had powers. She had abilities... She had a purpose in life. A purpose to be something other than a sidekick.
It seemed that Clark Kent wasn't the only one with a destiny.
