About

[community profile] sv100 was a LiveJournal weekly community challenge inspired by the LJ communities batfic100 {now defunct} & twilight100, based on Smallville where you join a team (Aliens, Metahumans & Humans) and write as many 100 worded drabbles to earn points for your team.

Archived here.

The Monthly Challenge was chosen by you members to be added to the site and I'm finally entering it.... so hopefully its successful. If not, well, I probably won't bother.

Anyway the GENERAL rules for the MONTHLY CHALLENGE is that you: (it will be added to the rules/guidelines post)

1) Follow the Prompt's guidelines.
2) Tag it with "monthly: [month] [year]"    - example would be monthly: april 2010
3) It starts with the FIRST prompt challenge each month and ends with the LAST prompt challenge.
4) Monthly Challenges are ALWAYS optional.
5) You can write as many Monthly Challenge Prompts you want... so if you just want to write one, go ahead! However to win this challenge you must have the MOST monthly challenge drabbles.

Questions on the monthly challenge would go HERE.

Now for THIS month's challenge!

This challenge is for you to write NEW/DIFFERENT pairings than you USUALLY/HAVE WRITTEN for SV100.
EXAMPLE: So if you have written ONLY Chloe/Oliver and Clark/Lois for past prompts - you can't write those pairings again for this challenge. You would have to use pairings you haven't written for in SV100.
This is a GREAT challenge if you've always wanted to write a Jor-El/Bart or Lana/Martha or some other pairing... but never did.

To answer some questions I know you might have for this challenge:

Q : What if I've written _a_/_b_ before, but I've never written _a_/_b_ for this community, can I still write _a_/_b_ for the MC?
A : Yes! :) I'm just trying to mix the drabbles up than just having the same pairings over and over. ;-)

Q : Does the pairing have to be romantic?
A :  Yes it does, or at least only one character must be attracted to the one other.

Q : What if I don't exactly ship any other pairings than the ones I usually write for SV100?
A : That's actually kinda sad since I have probably more than 10 pairings I ship in SV - you should be proud that you've limited yourself - it probably drives you less crazy. BUT ANYWAY.... Either write ANY pairings you're sorta interested in, ignore this challenge, or try to think of a pairing no one else has written about [or at least to your knowledge].

Q : If I write one _b_/_c_ drabble and one  _c_/_a_ drabble for the "Red" prompt, would I still be able to write _c_/_a_ for the next prompt after "Red"?
A : I'm limiting it to only TWO drabbles max for each different/new pairing for the May's Monthly Challenge you write. So after writing another  _c_/_a, you would have to write some other pairing.

Sounds exciting. Just wondering if you're open to new members, and if so, how do they sign up?

I see I have some people in moresomes - is it possible to have them in pairs? Example - I have Whitney/Jason/Clark/Lex, so could I write say Clark/Jason or Whitney/Lex or are all four men off limits as a partner with one of the other four?

Just trying to clarify.

Question: Say I write four drabbles for the week, but only one qualifies for the monthly challenge. Should I post it separately, or can I throw them all together?

Hey there. Another question about this different pairing challenge. I wrote something like seven different pairings for this challenge so far. May I use those pairs again this month, or do I have to pick only brand new pairings for Watchtower and whatever the last weekly prompt of the month will be?

Also, a question I've been meaning to ask for a while - when I first started the prompt word actually had to be used in the 100 words. Is that still the case? I ask, because the phrase under the prompt posts says something like, "can be a word used, a place visited, or an idea expressed."

The phrase 'idea expressed' made me think the word doesn't have to be in their. Like I could say JLA Headquarters, instead. Anyway, I've been wanting clarification on that for quite a while. Thanks.

Hmm, sorry to ask a question you had answered in the original post. I don't know how I missed that information.

Thanks for taking the time to answer it anyway, as well as the others I had. I really appreciate it.

Quick question, if you're around

From: [identity profile] twinsarein.livejournal.com
I've gotten a last minute idea for a multiple drabble, so this question is related to one I've l already asked. I think I know the answer, but thought I'd be sure. This should be my last question for a while.

If writing a multi-chaptered drabble, and the prompt word is used in the first chapter, is it necessary to use it in all subsequent chapters if it's clear that the venue hasn't changed? Using WatchTower as an example, If a character is in the WatchTower, and it's stated in the first chapter, and then the character clearly doesn't leave the place, is it required to keep using the word in each chapter?

I hope this makes sense.

Ollie is going to be moving from room to room in the WatchTower - kitchen, exercise, recreation, observation, control, etc. I can probably work it into each chapter, just in case.

I thought the two drabble limit was for couples only. And trust me, there will not be any chapters with repeated couples in this fic. It's going to be a bit of a free-for-all.

If that is incorrect, then two chapters can be counted toward the monthly challenge, I guess, and they can all o toward the weekly challenge.

Each chapter of the fic will have a different pairing, maybe more than one. Thank you so much for clarifying, and for taking the time to answer so many of my questions. I really appreciate it. I'll try to leave you alone for a while. *g*
